Wahl Match is a more modern, fairer election test. No tracking, no accounts, no advertising.
Scope
Wahl Match currently only supports the German Federal Election 2025. State, local and European elections are currently not covered — an extension to further elections is conceivable but not announced.
Idea
Instead of long questionnaires, you swipe through the most important theses of an election in just a few minutes. Your result shows how well your answers align with the parties' positions on the issues.
What Wahl Match does differently than Wahl-O-Mat and WahlSwiper
Wahl-O-Mat (bpb) and WahlSwiper are the best-known German election aids. Wahl Match differs in four points:
- All admitted parties, not only the big ones. Wahl-O-Mat typically only shows a curated selection; WahlSwiper similarly. Wahl Match lists every party admitted to the German Federal Election 2025 — even the smallest splinter parties are ranked instead of being invisible.
- Finer weighting: 2× and MUST. With Wahl-O-Mat all theses count equally; doubling the weight is the only control. Wahl Match adds MUST markers: parties that take the opposite position on a MUST thesis are excluded from the ranking — not just downgraded. This models "red lines" more realistically than a pure percentage rating.
- Fully private, no account. Wahl Match stores answers exclusively in the browser or on the device. There is no account, no server-side profile, no analytics tracking. The server only sees the static election data — never your answers.
- Modern swipe UI, web and native. Wahl-O-Mat is a click UI in administrative style. WahlSwiper is primarily a mobile app. Wahl Match runs as a web app and as a native iOS/Android app — with consistent swipe interaction on both platforms.
What Wahl Match does not do better: Wahl-O-Mat has editorial feedback with the parties (parties officially confirm their positions). Wahl Match derives positions from the published manifestos — methodologically transparent, but without official confirmation from the parties.
Important
Match measures positions on issues, not values. A high percentage is not a voting recommendation — it is an invitation for a conversation with yourself.
Sources & methodology
Theses and party positions are based on the official manifestos for the German Federal Election 2025 and public statements by the parties. Each thesis can score up to 2 points (full agreement), 1 point (partial) or 0 points (opposing position). Theses marked 2× count double. Theses marked MUST also count double — additionally, parties taking the opposite position here are excluded from the ranking (red line). Skipped theses are not counted.
Available languages
Wahl Match is available in seven languages: German, Plain German (Leichte Sprache), English, Turkish, Russian, Arabic and Polish. The language is detected from your browser settings on first visit and can be changed any time via the footer (web) or settings (mobile). Theses and party descriptions are translated as well. The non-German translations of political content are currently AI-pretranslated and have not yet been editorially reviewed by native speakers; German is the authoritative original. Arabic is displayed with right-to-left layout.
